Top Ten Tuesday: My Favorite Bookish OTPs

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, and this week’s Top Ten Tuesday is a festive one! Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly post curated by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is to choose a romantic top-ten and go with it.

I’ve made a few Valentine’s Day related posts for this week, but for this one I chose my ten favorite OTPs. I’m only doing bookish ones. Otherwise, I’d have to do a top twenty. Ironic how many “one true pairings” people can have, huh?

So here are the ships I squee over repeatedly. Enjoy!

1. Magnus/Alec from The Mortal Instruments

Let’s be real. If a couple is adorable enough to get you to sit through entire seasons of the poo-storm that is Shadowhunters, they’re a solid pair. These two have the absolute best romantic moments throughout The Moral Instruments series, and seeing them married with kids in The Dark Artifices is just everything. slams face into keyboard

2. Wylan/Jesper from Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom

Everyone swoons over Kaz and Inej while reading this duology, and that’s fair. They’re on the list too. But I’m a bit more obsessed with the natural, easy romances than the insanely difficult ones. The fact that Wylan and Jesper fall for one another without much drama (and with a whole lot of comic relief) makes their relationship that much better to read. I know I’m the minority on that one, but oh well. This is why I don’t read romance often!

3. Katniss/Peeta from The Hunger Games

This may get me some hate mail. Don’t care. I was on the fence about who I wanted Katniss to end up with, or whether I wanted her to wind up with anyone at all. But Katniss and Peeta have such a realistic relationship, it’s hard not to love it. They don’t automatically fall for one another. They grow into it.

4. Ron/Hermione from Harry Potter

Friends to lovers is my jam, and that originated with my first-ever bookish ship: Ron and Hermione. I have some fond memories of flying through the Harry Potter books, trying to determine when these two would get together. Waiting so long just made me love them more, though.

5. Jon/Ygritte from A Song of Ice and Fire

I adore Jon and Ygritte, and I don’t know if it’s the forbidden nature of their romance or the fact that they play into the opposites attract trope. Either way, I think they balance one another so well. And the television show did a great job at bringing their relationship to life. UG. Okay, I don’t want to talk about it anymore or I’ll be sad. Bye.

6. Ty/Kit from The Dark Artifices

Ugh, this hasn’t officially happened yet – but it’s coming. It better be. These two are too adorable for words. And after the events of Lord of Shadows, things are bound to get angsty and adorable all at once. I’m so here for it.

7. Percy/Annabeth from Percy Jackson & the Olympians

You’d think this ship originated during my younger years, but I was rooting for these two even as a twenty-five year old reading the series for the first time. Like I said, I’m a sucker for the friends to lovers trope.

8. Simon/Isabelle from The Mortal Instruments

These two just deserve all the good things, one another included. They’re another relationship that formed naturally over time, and those are the best kinds. I’m a little sad we don’t see more of them in The Dark Artifices.

9. Will/Tessa/Jem from The Infernal Devices

This is the only love triangle that a) doesn’t annoy me and b) makes me ship ALL of the characters. And the way it ends is just so satisfying. I like getting everything I want. Anyway, these three have so much chemistry, and they’re amazing. mic drop

10. Kaz/Inej from Six of Crows

Just read the ending of Crooked Kingdom. Just do it. Bring tissues. UGH.

Well, that’s the most I’ll ever “UGH” in a blog post. This is why I don’t write about ships — I’m basically incoherent. What are some of your OTPs/favorite ships? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. You seem like a big Shadowhunters universe fan…!!!!!! I love your list … Adore all your OTPs…. except Percy and Annabeth coz I never managed to get into that series …

    1. That I am! Plus, it takes a lot for me to appreciate a ship. I feel like it only happens in big series. Otherwise, I tend to forget about them!

Yeah, I feel like Percy Jackson is a hit or miss. Especially if you read it after a certain age!
